The Shark vacuum cleaner brand, which is developed by a company called Euro-Pro, has grown in popularity in recent years. While Shark hasn't received the brand recognition of Dyson, Vax or other popular brands, they still produce some excellent vacuums.

The company manufactures a range of upright and stick vacuum cleaners. Their Rocket Stick range is a popular option for people who want the convenience of a stick without the drawbacks of a cordless. They also have a range of Lift-Away uprights and the popular Rotator series.

In this article, we've listed our favourite Shark vacuum cleaner reviews. Each of the models on this list provides great value, excellent cleaning performance and has been well received by buyers. These aren't the only Shark vacuums that are worth buying - but we believe they are the cream of the crop.

Which Are the Best Shark Vacuums?

1. Shark Lift Away NV680UK

SHARK Lift Away NV680UK

One of the best Shark vacuum cleaners is the Lift Away NV680UK. It's an upright bagless vacuum with a stylish design, excellent filtration and great suction power.

The most important feature of the NV680UK is its lift-out design. Shark aren't the only company to do this (Vax also have lift-out uprights), but the design makes it easy to clean under furniture using the fully powered floor nozzle.

According to Shark, the NV680UK is able to prevent up to 99.9% of allergens escaping into the air due to its foam filter and "seal" technology. This isn't as effective as a true HEPA filter, but is great for a regular filter.

Other features include LED headlights, a hard-floor attachment that's designed to pickup both small particles and large debris, and one litre dust capacity. It's also great on both carpets and floorboards.

There are a few drawbacks to this model though. Firstly, it can struggle on laminate flooring - especially with small particles. The dust bin is also small for an upright and tricky to empty without spilling dust everywhere.

If you're looking for a mid-range upright that's easy to manoeuvre around the home, the Shark NV680UK is a good option. We don't recommend it for pet hair or laminate floors, but for everything else it provides great value.

Key Features:

  • Versatile lift-out design makes it easy to clean both high and low spots
  • LED headlights that illuminate dust
  • Decent filtration for allergy sufferers

Specification:

  • Weight: 6.33kg
  • Power: 850W
  • Price Range: £££
  • Dust Capacity: 1 litre
  • Filter: Sponge

2. Shark Rocket NV480UKR

Shark Rocket NV480UKR

If you're looking for a decent all-round vacuum that doesn't cost a huge amount of money, the Shark Rocket NV480UKR could be an option to consider. It's a bagless upright that has a small capacity and a design that can tilt back almost to the floor.

The Rocket is a 700W vacuum with a relatively noisy output of 81dB (although it's not the loudest Shark vacuum). Like most bagless vacuums, the NV480UKR is designed not to lose suction as the canister fills up, which is important as it has a small capacity.

It doesn't come with a HEPA filter, but Shark claims it can still remove up to 99.9% of allergens and dust from exhaust air. This is due to the Complete Seal technology. It also comes with LED lights and Shark's tilting body design for extra manoeuvrability.

There are some drawbacks though. The small capacity and short cable mean this isn't the most convenient vacuum - be prepared to empty and move sockets regularly. It also isn't great on laminate flooring and doesn't come with a lift-out dust canister.

In summary, it's not the most powerful Shark, but it provides great value and does a surprisingly good job on most tasks. It even does a passable job on pet hair, although it can't match the hair performance of more expensive models.

Key Features:

  • A great all-rounder that does a decent job of most tasks
  • Provides great value for money considering the relatively low cost
  • Body can tilt almost to the floor to make it easier to clean under furniture

Specification:

  • Weight: 6.55kg
  • Power: 700W
  • Price Range: ££
  • Dust Capacity: 0.8 litre
  • Filter: Sponge

3. Shark Rotator Lift-Away True Pet NV680UKT

Shark Rotator Pet

If you like the look of the Shark NV680UK but are worried about its performance with pet hair, the NV680UKT could be the perfect alternative. Despite the similar name, it has a few extra features that make it an excellent choice for homes with pets.

The first thing you notice about the NV680UKT is that it's built with Shark's "Advanced Tilt Steering." As you can see from the image to the right, this provides greater manoeuvrability. It's also a Shark Lift-Away vacuum so you can clean under furniture without using reduced power through a hose.

But what makes this model ideal for pets? Firstly, it comes with a HEPA filter instead of the sponge filter found on cheaper Shark models. This is much more effective at removing small allergens such as pet dander. It also comes with a turbo brush for getting rid of pet hair on stairs or carpets.

Our biggest complaint about the NV680UKT is that it has a very small dust capacity considering the price. This means you'll need to empty it more often than other uprights. We also wish it was a bit better on hard floors (it doesn't come with a hard floor nozzle), although it's great on carpets.

If you're looking for a Shark pet vacuum, the NV680UKT is probably your best bet. It's not cheap, but it's great for getting rid of pet hair and can filter most dander before it's released into the air.

Key Features:

  • Turbo tool for removing pet hair on upholstery and stairs.
  • Tilt design for better manoeuvrability
  • Excellent filtration due to the HEPA filter

Specification:

  • Weight: 6.63kg
  • Power: 850W
  • Price Range: ££££
  • Dust Capacity: 1 litre
  • Filter: HEPA

4. Shark Rocket True Pet HV320UKT

Shark HV320UKT

Another excellent Shark pet vacuum cleaner is the HV320UKT. Shark calls it a "Handstick" vacuum, as it can convert between stick and handheld modes for more versatile cleaning. It also comes with a mini turbo tool for removing pet hair.

Unlike the other vacuums on this list, the HV320UKT is primarily a stick upright vacuum. This provides middle ground between a cordless and upright, as its lightweight yet isn't constrained by battery life. It has a small one litre capacity, yet is one of the most energy efficient vacuums on the market with a power rating of 500W.

The HV320UKT's biggest strength is its versatility. For pet owners, the vacuum comes with a miniature turbo tool that's great for upholstery. It's also effective on carpets and comes with a "Dustaway" head for hard floors.

A drawback of the stick design is that it's more difficult to clean higher locations. This is partly solved by the handheld mode, although you don't get the extra reach of a traditional hose. It's also a relatively loud vacuum.

Despite these minor issues, the Shark Rocket True Pet is a great choice for a pet vacuum if you don't want a full-size upright. While it has a small capacity, its versatile array of attachments and relatively lightweight design are why we think it's the best Shark stick vacuum.

Key Features:

  • Miniature turbo tool for removing pet hair
  • Great on carpets
  • Stick design means it's lighter than other Shark vacuums

Specification:

  • Weight: 4.3kg
  • Power: 500W
  • Price Range: ££
  • Dust Capacity: 1 litre
  • Filter: HEPA

Summary

Shark vacuums are definitely worth considering as an alternative to vacuum brands like Dyson and Vax. Their models tend to be reasonably priced and provide strong suction power. Many also have innovative features such as the company's Lift-Out design and Swivel Steering.

Listed above are our top four Shark vacuum cleaner reviews. While each model provides great value, it's important to buy the model that most closely matches your requirements. If we had to pick our top model though, it would be the Shark Rotator NV680UKT.
